Getting Started & other questions

What is the process?

The first step is to contact me with as much information as possible about your wedding, including your intended date and the theme you require.

Then we can catch up at an obligation free meeting - ideally in person, so we can get to know each other, discuss your wedding and visions for your ceremony. If we're unable to meet in person, we can chat using Zoom or FaceTime.

If you’re happy to proceed to book me, we’ll complete my Service Agreement and I will require a booking fee to secure the date. We can also complete the ‘Notice of Intended Marriage’ (NOIM) form to start the ball rolling.

We'll have subsequent meetings where we will get fully into discussing your ceremony. I can provide you with guides on examples of suggested formats, vows, ring exchanges, readings, etc.

In the lead up, I’ll keep in touch to see if you have any additional ideas - and I’m always available via phone or email.

One month prior, I’ll send you a copy of the ceremony for your review and approval.

Closer to the day, we can have a rehearsal with the other attendants to run through the ceremony on site.

On your Wedding Day, I will arrive 45 - 60 minutes beforehand to set up and liaise with your other suppliers to ensure the day runs smoothly.

After the ceremony, I’ll take my time collecting my items in case you have any questions before you head off to enjoy married life!

When can I get married?

We need a 'Notice of Intention to Marry’ (NOIM) lodged between 1 month and 18 months before your intended date.

There are some situations this can change, but I’ll talk you through all the requirements of the various forms, etc required.

What’s happening with CoVid?

As an Authorised Marriage Celebrant, I am obliged to follow all health guidelines and legal requirements. As the situation keeps changing, I will keep you informed of the applicable rules in order to hold your ceremony legally and without putting you or myself at risk of any financial or legal penalties.

Can my children be the witnesses?

Legally, witnesses for a wedding need to by 18 years of age of older.

Whilst children younger than this age can’t act as the legal witnesses, we can talk about ways to have them involved in a meaningful way on your big day.

Other questions?

Getting married creates a wealth of questions, no matter whether it’s your first or fourth wedding! I’m always available for a quick chat or email to discuss any questions you may have.

Can we hold a surprise wedding?

As long as the couple getting married have completed the NOIM form and other legal requirements, the type of ‘surprise wedding’ I can perform is when we surprise your family and friends, such as having them think they’re coming to a birthday BBQ and suddenly it turns into a wedding!
